AI UGC vs human UGC: which fits your brief?
AI UGC uses a generated presenter; human UGC uses a real creator. Choose based on what the advertisement needs to prove: a scripted explanation, a product demonstration or someone’s genuine first-hand experience.
Compare what the viewer is being shown
| Question | AI presenter | Human creator |
|---|---|---|
| Who appears? | A generated character | A real person |
| First-hand experience? | Cannot provide genuine personal experience | Can describe actual experience if truthful |
| Good brief to explore | Scripted explanations and repeatable concepts | Hands-on use and authentic personal experience |
| Performance evidence | Requires live testing | Also requires live testing |
Neither format is automatically more persuasive. Audience, message, product, placement and editing all affect results. A percentage claiming one always beats the other is not a substitute for a controlled test.
When an AI presenter is useful
An AI presenter can help a small team produce several scripted concepts without arranging a physical shoot for each one. Start with a clear product explanation, an objection to answer and approved images or footage. Check that the product shown remains accurate and that the presenter does not imply a personal experience that never happened.
When to use a real creator
Use a real creator when their actual identity, expertise, physical interaction with a product or honest personal experience is the reason to believe the message. A generated face is not evidence of a skincare result, an improvement in health or a customer’s satisfaction.
A practical comparison test
- Keep the offer, audience and landing page comparable.
- Define the outcome first: a useful visit, lead or sale.
- Record spend and delivery conditions alongside creative format.
- Compare enough data to avoid treating an early fluctuation as proof.
- Document what changed before making the next version.
What Bitlings offers
Bitlings currently produces AI-presenter videos with human scripting and editing. The Starter package is £450 for five videos a month: three new concepts and two hook variants. A single-video pilot is £150 one-off. All packages cover production, with campaign management and advertising spend excluded. Our examples are concept work, not commissioned campaigns or verified performance case studies. For personal testimony or physical proof, choose a real creator for that part of the brief.
Questions and answers
Is AI UGC the same as a customer review?
No. UGC-style describes the advertisement format. A generated presenter is not a real customer and cannot supply first-hand testimony.
Does using a real creator guarantee better results?
No. Evaluate both formats against the same business outcome using your own campaign data.
